What is a veterinary certificate for a cat?

The correct name of this document is the veterinary passport of the animal. This is a document identifying the animal, in our case, a cat. It contains all the data about the cat, as well as information about the owner, medical procedures performed (vaccinations, dewormings, procedures to get rid of ectoparasites).

There are two types of document - domestic and international. The internal veterinary passport is used for presentation within the country. International allows you to take an animal abroad and gives it the right to participate in events outside its native state. To obtain an international document, you do not need to have an internal one. For this reason, many prudent cat owners immediately issue an international passport for them, rather than a regular certificate.

Who issues the document and how is it filled out?

As a standard, a certificate is issued by a veterinarian after the first vaccination. Completely filling out a veterinary certificate for a cat is the responsibility of the doctor. But the owner of the animal should not leave everything to chance. It is better to check how the data is entered, whether there are the necessary stamps, signatures and stickers. An incorrectly filled out animal passport is considered invalid, and this is not a problem for the veterinary clinic, but a headache for the cat owner.

Why do you need a veterinary certificate for a cat?

A veterinary certificate about the health status of an animal is its main medical and identification document. Without it, the owner cannot even think about participating in exhibitions, traveling abroad or even within the country. When boarding any public transport with a carrier, the cat owner must be prepared that he may be asked for a document allowing him to transport the animal.
